Teleprompter for Zoom Meetings

Read talking points on Zoom without a sticky note. The free web teleprompter already has picture-in-picture — float a small scrolling script beside Zoom on one monitor, then share only the window your audience should see.

Open the free web teleprompter. On Chrome, Edge, or Firefox you can already use picture-in-picture — a floating Document PiP window with your scrolling script — so cues sit beside Zoom on one monitor without a sticky note or second display. Put the full window on another monitor or a phone beside the webcam if you prefer. Share only what the audience should see: GoTeleprompter does not hide from screen capture, so window choice still matters.

Who this setup is for

  • Sales and customer demos where order and pricing details matter
  • Webinar hosts who need a clean open, transitions, and close
  • Leaders delivering all-hands or investor updates on camera
  • Trainers who run the same deck across many Zoom sessions

How to use a teleprompter on Zoom

  1. Open the free GoTeleprompter web teleprompter and paste your talking points (opening, proof points, transitions, close — not every conversational aside).
  2. Set font size to about 30–40 pt and speed to 120–130 WPM so you can read at arm’s length without rushing.
  3. Open picture-in-picture (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) and drag the floating script beside Zoom near the webcam — the most convenient single-monitor setup for meetings. Or use a second monitor under the webcam, or a phone mounted beside the laptop camera.
  4. Join Zoom. When you share, pick a specific window (slides, browser demo, or Zoom) — not the full desktop and not the teleprompter tab.
  5. Start scroll just before you speak. Pause with space/tap during Q&A, then resume when you return to script.

Tips that keep delivery natural

  • Picture-in-picture is built into the web teleprompter — no extension or Mac overlay app required.
  • Script the moments that need precision; leave discussion as short cues.
  • Wide side margins keep a narrow reading column closer to the webcam.
  • Do one dry run in the web teleprompter before a high-stakes call.

What GoTeleprompter does and does not do here

The web teleprompter already has desktop picture-in-picture: float a small scrolling script (with play/pause) next to Zoom — especially convenient for meetings on a laptop. You also get WPM scroll, font and theme controls, mirror H/V, and a read-line cue. PiP works in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on desktop (not Safari or mobile). Scripts stay on your device. It does not float invisibly over Zoom, does not use voice scrolling, and does not exclude itself from screen share — share the right window (or keep PiP / the full window off the captured display).

FAQ

Will Zoom participants see my teleprompter?
Only if you share the teleprompter window or your full desktop. Share a specific window (slides or Zoom) instead, or keep the script in PiP / on a second monitor or phone beside the webcam. GoTeleprompter does not hide itself from Zoom’s screen share automatically.
Does picture-in-picture work with Zoom?
Yes. On Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, open Document picture-in-picture from the web teleprompter and place the floating script beside Zoom. That is usually the easiest one-laptop meeting setup. PiP is not available in Safari or on mobile browsers.
Do I need a Mac app for Zoom?
No. The free web teleprompter works in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, and Android browsers. There is no GoTeleprompter macOS app.
What speed should I use for Zoom presentations?
About 120–130 WPM. Meetings run slower than social video, so a deliberate pace leaves room to pause and emphasize.
Can I use my iPhone as the teleprompter while Zoom is on my laptop?
Yes. Mount the phone beside the laptop webcam, open GoTeleprompter on iPhone in prompter mode (recording optional), and keep Zoom on the laptop camera.
