Teleprompter for OBS Studio
OBS only shows what you add as sources. Open GoTeleprompter picture-in-picture for private cues on one PC — or park the full window on another monitor — and never add it to the scene.
Open the free web teleprompter. On Chrome, Edge, or Firefox you can already use picture-in-picture — a floating Document PiP window with your scrolling script — so cues sit beside OBS Studio on one monitor without a sticky note or second display. Put the full window on another monitor or a phone beside the webcam if you prefer. Share only what the audience should see: GoTeleprompter does not hide from screen capture, so window choice still matters.
Who this setup is for
- Tutorial and course creators recording in OBS
- Streamers who need cues without putting notes on stream
- Podcasters and interview hosts using OBS for local records
- Anyone building scenes who does not want a Mac-only overlay app
How to use a teleprompter with OBS
- Open the web teleprompter and load your outline or full script.
- Use picture-in-picture (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) so the floating script stays on your desk but is not an OBS source — or put the browser on a monitor OBS is not capturing.
- Build your OBS scene as usual (camera, display capture of the demo app, browser source for slides — not the teleprompter tab or PiP).
- Set WPM to match the format (slower for teaching, a bit faster for energetic streams).
- Start OBS recording/streaming, then start the teleprompter scroll. Pause when you go off-script.

Tips that keep delivery natural
- PiP is convenient on a single PC, but full display capture can still pick it up — prefer window capture of the app you demo.
- A phone beside the webcam works well for talking-head scenes.
- Mirror H/V in the web tool if you ever put the browser behind glass — most OBS desk setups will not need mirror.
What GoTeleprompter does and does not do here
The web teleprompter already has desktop picture-in-picture: float a small scrolling script (with play/pause) next to OBS Studio — especially convenient for meetings on a laptop. You also get WPM scroll, font and theme controls, mirror H/V, and a read-line cue. PiP works in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on desktop (not Safari or mobile). Scripts stay on your device. It does not float invisibly over OBS Studio, does not use voice scrolling, and does not exclude itself from screen share — share the right window (or keep PiP / the full window off the captured display).

FAQ
- How do I keep the teleprompter off my OBS stream?
- Do not add the teleprompter window, PiP, or its display as an OBS source. Prefer window-capture only the application you want viewers to see, or a second monitor for the script.
- Does picture-in-picture work with OBS?
- Yes as a private cue window on Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Keep it out of the scene. If you use display capture of the same monitor, PiP can appear on stream.
- Can I add the teleprompter as a browser source?
- You could, but then viewers would see it. For a private prompt, keep it out of the scene entirely.
- Does GoTeleprompter integrate with OBS?
- No plugin is required. It is a normal browser page (or Document PiP) you place outside the captured sources.
- Does this work on Windows for OBS?
- Yes. Run OBS and the free web teleprompter side by side in your browser. No native Windows teleprompter app is needed.
