Teleprompter for Descript Recordings
Descript shines after the take. Open GoTeleprompter picture-in-picture while you record so the transcript you edit starts from a cleaner performance.
Open the free web teleprompter. On Chrome, Edge, or Firefox you can already use picture-in-picture — a floating Document PiP window with your scrolling script — so cues sit beside Descript on one monitor without a sticky note or second display. Put the full window on another monitor or a phone beside the webcam if you prefer. Share only what the audience should see: GoTeleprompter does not hide from screen capture, so window choice still matters.
Who this setup is for
- Podcasters who record in Descript then edit text-first
- YouTubers who want fewer retakes before Descript cleanup
- Teams recording under-narrated screen demos
- Creators who already write a script before hitting record
How to use a teleprompter with Descript
- Write the script you want on the take (Descript can fix small mistakes later — it cannot invent eye contact).
- Open the web teleprompter beside Descript’s recorder; use picture-in-picture (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) so cues stay near the lens without crowding the UI.
- Keep PiP off the camera framing and off screen captures.
- Record your take in Descript while reading at a steady WPM.
- Stop the prompter when you improvise; jump back when you return to script. Edit in Descript as usual. For iPhone talking heads, you can also record in the GoTeleprompter app and import the file.

Tips that keep delivery natural
- PiP is the convenient one-screen setup while Descript owns the recorder.
- A clean take still saves edit time even when Descript can cut filler.
- Do not point a display capture at the teleprompter window or PiP.
- Short lines format better for both prompting and later text editing.
What GoTeleprompter does and does not do here
The web teleprompter already has desktop picture-in-picture: float a small scrolling script (with play/pause) next to Descript — especially convenient for meetings on a laptop. You also get WPM scroll, font and theme controls, mirror H/V, and a read-line cue. PiP works in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on desktop (not Safari or mobile). Scripts stay on your device. It does not float invisibly over Descript, does not use voice scrolling, and does not exclude itself from screen share — share the right window (or keep PiP / the full window off the captured display).

FAQ
- Does GoTeleprompter connect to Descript?
- No account sync or plugin. Copy your script into the free web teleprompter, record in Descript, then edit there.
- Does picture-in-picture work with Descript?
- Yes on Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Float the script while you record; keep it out of any screen-recording source.
- Can Descript replace a teleprompter?
- Descript helps after you speak. A teleprompter helps while you speak — especially for eye line and order. Many people use both.
- Will the script appear in my Descript recording?
- Only if it is visible in the camera frame or in a screen recording source (including PiP on that display). Keep it beside the lens or on another monitor.
