Best Teleprompter App for iPhone & iPad (2026): 8 Compared

Voice tracking, in-app recording, floating scripts, and free tiers: how eight popular iPhone and iPad teleprompters compare, with honest limits for each.

The best teleprompter app for iPhone and iPad depends on one question: how do you want the script to move? If you want it to follow your voice while you record, look at GoTeleprompter, Teleprompter.com, PromptSmart Pro, or VoicePrompter. If you need the script to float over TikTok or Instagram, GoTeleprompter, VoicePrompter, Teleprompter: Floating Notes, and CueCard can do that. If you drive the scroll with a remote, Teleprompter Pro is built for it.

Below is how eight popular apps compare, with honest limits for each, including mine. Want to try a teleprompter before installing anything? The free web teleprompter runs in Safari on any iPhone or iPad.

How I compared them

I build GoTeleprompter, so I follow this market closely. Keep that in mind, and judge my app by the specifics below. Every claim about other apps comes from their App Store listing or official website, checked in October 2026. If a listing doesn't say something, I don't claim it.

I looked at five things:

  • Scrolling. Fixed speed, sound-activated, or real voice tracking. Our guide to voice-activated teleprompters explains the difference.
  • Recording. Can you film in the app, and is there a watermark on the free plan?
  • Floating. Can the script sit on top of other apps?
  • Free tier. What you get before paying.
  • Mac version. Useful if you also read scripts on video calls.

1. GoTeleprompter: voice scrolling and recording, free to start

Best for: creators who read and record in one take and want the script to keep up with them.

GoTeleprompter shows your script over the camera, so you read and film on the same screen. With Voice Follow, the script scrolls at the pace you speak and waits when you pause. It runs on your device with Apple's speech recognition, in the languages Apple supports, and it's included in the free version. You also get front and rear camera, vertical, horizontal, or square framing, mirror mode for glass rigs, and no watermark on recordings.

Prefer to film in Instagram, TikTok, or another camera app? Picture-in-picture floats the script in a small window over other apps, still scrolling. When you'd rather set the pace, there are constant-speed, words-per-minute, and timed modes.

The free version holds 2 scripts. One Pro subscription unlocks unlimited scripts on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and scripts sync through your own iCloud. There's no account to create.

Honest limits: Voice Follow requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later; older systems use the speed-based modes. There is no remote-control support, and the free tier is smaller than VoicePrompter's.

2. Teleprompter.com: the most complete feature set

Best for: people who present from many devices or want remote control.

Teleprompter.com is the most established app here, with a 4.8 rating from about 30,000 reviews in the US store. It offers voice scrolling (called VoiceGlide) that pauses when you pause, plus set speed and timed scrolling. Remote control is broad: a second device, Apple Watch, keyboards, foot pedals, and game controllers. There's a native Mac app too.

Honest limits: the free plan adds a watermark to recordings, and mirroring is listed under Pro. It's a subscription app with several tiers, and some features like cloud sync use a sign-in.

3. PromptSmart Pro: the voice-tracking veteran

Best for: English-speaking presenters who want a proven voice tracker and don't mind paying upfront.

PromptSmart's VoiceTrack was one of the first speech-recognition prompters. It scrolls as you speak and holds your place if you go off script. It records HD video, has a Selfie Mode that keeps the text next to the camera, and can invert text for glass rigs. Volume buttons play and pause, and it works with Bluetooth keyboards and foot pedals.

Honest limits: it's a paid download, not free. VoiceTrack is English only. The PromptSmart Remote and some extras need an additional subscription. On Mac, there's a separate desktop app rather than the same app.

4. VoicePrompter: voice tracking that floats over other apps

Best for: filming inside TikTok, Instagram, or another camera app while a script follows your voice.

VoicePrompter offers three modes: on-device word tracking, sound scrolling that pauses on silence, and a constant speed. Its picture-in-picture window floats over other camera apps, which is its standout feature. It records in-app as well, has a mirror mode, and needs no account. The free tier includes 3 custom scripts, and there's a Mac version.

Honest limits: it's a young app with a small number of ratings so far (66 in the US store). There's also an unrelated app with a similar name, so check the developer before you download.

5. BIGVU: a video studio with a prompter inside

Best for: creators who want captions, editing, and publishing in one subscription.

BIGVU pairs a teleprompter with AI captions, background tools, and publishing. Its voice control scrolls while you talk and waits when you pause, with a mic sensitivity setting. Mirror mode is included on the free plan.

Honest limits: free recordings carry a BIGVU watermark and a 9-minute limit, and captions and green screen are paid. The voice control is described as pausing on silence, which is different from tracking your words.

6. Teleprompter Pro: built for remotes and studio rigs

Best for: presenters who control the scroll with a remote, keyboard, or Apple Watch.

Teleprompter Pro (formerly Teleprompter Premium) has continuous, paging, and timed scrolling, and unlimited scripts on the free version. Apple Watch and browser-based remote control are free. The Pro upgrade adds keyboards, gamepads, control from another iOS device, recording, and mirror mode.

Honest limits: no voice scrolling is listed, so you set the pace or drive it by hand. Recording and mirroring need Pro.

7. Teleprompter: Floating Notes: a floating script on a budget

Best for: reading over another app when a set speed is enough.

Floating Notes keeps a script window on top of other apps, with adjustable speed and a mirror mode. It also records in-app and has a Mac version.

Honest limits: its "AI Mode" isn't explained on the listing. The app is marked as containing ads, and free-tier limits aren't stated.

8. CueCard: completely free and open source

Best for: anyone who wants a no-cost floating prompter without ads or sign-in.

CueCard is free, open source, and has no ads or accounts. It floats over other apps, records video, supports mirror mode, and can be controlled from an Apple Watch or the iPhone Action Button.

Honest limits: scrolling is fixed speed only, and it's new, with about 40 ratings so far.

What about Video Teleprompter?

Video Teleprompter from the makers of Teleprompter Pro is still highly rated, with 4K recording and wide remote support. But its last update on the App Store is from July 2022. Teleprompter Pro, from the same developer, is the actively updated choice.

So which one should you get?

  • Read and record in one take, script follows your voice: GoTeleprompter or PromptSmart Pro. GoTeleprompter is free to start with voice included; PromptSmart is paid upfront.
  • Film inside TikTok or Instagram: GoTeleprompter or VoicePrompter if you want voice tracking, CueCard if you want it free.
  • Remote control or a studio rig: Teleprompter Pro or Teleprompter.com.
  • Editing and captions in the same app: BIGVU.
  • Also reading scripts on Mac video calls: pick an app with a Mac version. See our best teleprompter apps for Mac.

Most of these apps have a free version, so the honest advice is to test two of them with the same script. Read for 60 seconds in each and keep the one that feels natural. For setup tips, see how to use a teleprompter while recording on iPhone.
