Question 1

Is there a free online teleprompter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GoTeleprompter runs a free online teleprompter in your browser: paste your script, set scroll speed and font size, and start reading. No download, signup, or account required.

Question 2

Can I use an online teleprompter on PC or Mac?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open the web teleprompter in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge on Windows, macOS, or Linux. It also works on phones and tablets in the mobile browser. On macOS 26 or later, the GoTeleprompter Mac app adds Voice Follow and can hide from screen sharing. There is no Windows or Android app — use the browser instead.

Question 3

Does the web teleprompter have picture-in-picture?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on desktop Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Open picture-in-picture to float a small scrolling script (with play/pause) beside a meeting or recorder. Document PiP is not available in Safari or mobile browsers, and it can still appear if you share or capture the full display.

Question 4

Does the web teleprompter support mirror mode for glass rigs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Toggle horizontal and/or vertical mirror so the script reads correctly in a beam-splitter glass teleprompter. The read-line cue flips with the text.

Question 5

Can I change text and background colors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pick custom text and background colors, or use the same theme presets as the iOS app: Classic, Moonlight, Manuscript, Daybreak, and Voltage. Your last display settings are remembered in the browser (the script itself is not saved).

Question 6

Is there a countdown before the script starts scrolling?

Accepted Answer

Optional, and only before a test recording starts—not for normal play/pause. Open Settings, choose 1–30 seconds under Countdown (off by default). Tap or Space cancels. The countdown seconds are not included in the recorded clip.

Question 7

Can I record video while using the web teleprompter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Click Camera to show your webcam behind the script, then Record to capture a short test clip (up to 60 seconds) while the teleprompter scrolls. Recording stays in your browser — nothing is uploaded. For longer takes, use the iOS app.

Question 8

Do I have to turn on the camera to use the teleprompter?

Accepted Answer

No. The teleprompter works on its own for rehearsal. Camera and recording are optional — turn them on only when you want to film a quick browser test take.

Question 9

Is my webcam video uploaded to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Recording happens locally in your browser. The video stays on your device unless you download it.
